I’m from a Swansea family and was born in the former Mount Pleasant Hospital. For more than 15 years I have worked in the public, private and third sector in Swansea city centre. I currently work for the Voluntary Service in Swansea.
I first became active in politics through the Trade Union movement, when I became a workplace representative and then Chair of PCS Amgueddfa Cymru National Museum Wales. I later worked as an Officer for UNISON, and am currently a member of Unite Community.
For many years I have been involved with the arts in Swansea. I’m a director of Swansea Print Workshop and previously I worked for more than 10 years in the National Waterfront Museum. Our wonderful museums, galleries, libraries and lively music scene bring the best to Swansea, and I want to encourage and support all that creativity that our city has to offer, making Swansea a vibrant place to live, work and enjoy.
I’m an active governor at two schools in Castle Ward – Waun Wen Primary and St Helen’s Primary. I’m dedicated to working with my Labour colleagues to create more play facilities and improve green places across the ward. As an environmentalist I believe that in this urban area our parks, wildlife corridors and other green spaces are vital not only for biodiversity but also for our well-being and enjoyment.
