Resolved that the Minutes of the Economy & Infrastructure Service Transformation Committee held on 29 February, 2024 be approved and signed as a correct record.

Minutes:

The Strategic Economic Regeneration Manager presented an interim report on progress made in respect of the Tawe Riverside Action Plan.

 

Members noted the context of the Tawe Riverside area, the Lower Swansea Valley Levelling Up Bid 2023, the Economic Case and Impact of the Levelling Up bid, the Hafod Morfa Copperworks (HMCW) wider programme and the next steps and way forward.

 

Committee questioning and discussions focussed on the following:

 

1.     Pontoons and the use of River Taxis.

2.     Accessibility of the Museum of storage of artefacts.

3.     Development of the cycle path/walkway and other potential commercial uses for the area.

4.     Development of residential uses under the LDP.

5.     Progress with the Masterplan.

6.     Restoration of the Bascule Bridge.

 

The Chair thanked the Strategic Economic Regeneration Manager for his informative report.

 

Resolved that:

 

1.     A further report be submitted to a future meeting of the Service Transformation Committee to evaluate the scope for further projects and report back on progress with the Lower Swansea Valley Levelling up projects and regeneration of key sites.

Minutes:

The Head of Planning & City Regeneration presented the ‘for information’ Economy & Infrastructure Service Transformation Committee Annual Report 2023-2024.

 

The Report summarised the outcome and outputs of the Economy & Infrastructure Service Transformation Committee’s work programme in 2023/24.

 

The report would be amalgamated with the annual reports for the other 4 Service Transformation Committees and presented to Council in due course.
