Leadership, Inclusion and Governance: Building Excellence in Swansea Schools. Minutes: Sarah Hughes presented a report which summarised and
outlined an overview of the work of the Education & Skills Corporate
Delivery Committee for 2022-2023. The three main topics covered and discussed during the year were: · Strengthening School Leaders · Attendance and Inclusion · Strengthened and Effective School Governance The various reports, presentations and evidence provided at the numerous meetings of the CDC were outlined and detailed in the report. Members of the committee discussed the report and asked questions and made comments regarding the contents. The Officer, Director and Cabinet Member responded accordingly to the issues and points raised, and answered the questions raised regarding the implementation of the new policies. Members proposed the following additions to the report: 2.11 – add a signposting link to online procurement information and advice; 4.5 – add ‘in school’ induction session for new governors. The Chair thanked all of the Officers for their contributions to the committee over the past year which has resulted in the report before Members today, which will now proceed to Cabinet once all the associated documents are finalised and available. Resolved that 1. That the draft report with the 2 additions outlined above
be approved and referred to a future meeting of Cabinet when all three policy
area documents are ready. 2. Cabinet be asked to approve the policy development initiatives set out under section 5 of this report. |
