Minutes: The Tackling Poverty Development Manager presented a “For Information” report in order to update the Social Care & Tackling Poverty Service Transformation Committee on the Swansea Council Volunteering Policy Development. The current working Draft Swansea Council Volunteering Policy, attached at Appendix A takes account of best practice as identified by Third Sector Support Wales and as such defines volunteering, sets out standards and commitments to roles and responsibilities, recruitment and selection, induction and training and support and supervision. The Draft Swansea Council Volunteering Policy referred to a Managers Toolkit and Volunteer Handbook, which were key components to support the delivery of the Volunteering Policy. The Managers Toolkit would contain the resources required to enable services to host volunteers to meet the policy commitment. The Volunteer Handbook would contain information that would be relevant to the volunteer. The Tackling Poverty Development Manager outlined the progress since September 2023 and informed the Committee of the next steps. As this was a “live” working document, it was subject to further amendments and would be brought back to the Committee in due course. |
