Minutes:

Karen Stapleton, Deputy Director of Strategy and Planning for the Health Board and Chair of the Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Programme Boad attended, together with Katie Kinevane, Regional Transformation Manager to update the Panel on this issue.

Discussion Points:

·       This Report updated on the implementation of the Strategy.

·       A lot of time was spent consulting and engaging on the development of the Strategy which has been produced for the Swansea Bay area.

·       Implementation of the Strategy started 6-7 months ago and there are three key elements of the Strategy:

1.    Joining up services

2.    Provide better access to current services

3.    Filling in the gaps.

·       Panel asked questions about publicising information, remit of community psychologists and if in or across communities, signposting, length of funding and practical evidence Strategy is working.

Actions:

·       Updates on progress with this Strategy be brought to the Panel going forward.

Hayley Gwilliam, Cabinet Member for Community (Support) attended to brief the Panel on the impact Local Area Coordination (LAC) is having across Swansea.

 

Discussion Points:

·       Cabinet Member confirmed the Authority’s commitment to continue with LAC.

·       There was a restructure at the start of the financial year and the number of coordinators was reduced, however, full County coverage was retained.

·       The Team has set up a generic email address local.areacoordination@swansea.gov.uk which should be used for any future contact.

·       Panel asked questions about increase in local area coordinators workload, budget for next financial year, awareness of this work.

Amy Hawkins, Head of Adult Services and Tackling Poverty briefed the Panel on the Performance Monitoring report for August 2024. 

Discussion Points:

·       Panel noted brokerage has dropped quite substantially in last few months which is very positive news.

·       Director read out a message received from a member of the public regarding the Rapid Response Team. Panel agreed this was brilliant feedback.
