Overview of key priorities and challenges for Adult Services in Swansea

Presentation by Alex Williams, Head of Adult Services

 

Minutes:

Alex Williams, Head of Adult Services, gave a presentation to the Panel (circulated separately). 

 

Hard copies of Adult Services Structure diagram, with contact details, handed out to Panel at the meeting. Panel members advised to contact Alex Williams in the first instance.

 

Actions:

 

·         Alex Williams to confirm location of 5 internal and 3 external day services sites

·         Presentation given at councillor training event on 8 August 2017 on Social Services and Well Being Act to be circulated to Panel

·         Social Services report which arises from recent court case to be provided to Panel  – estimated February 2018

·         Alex Williams to provide map of integrated hub boundaries to Panel.

·         Panel agreed the proposed dates and times of meetings for 2017/18. 

·         Panel agreed to invite another co-optee onto the Panel – Katrina Guntrip.

·         Proposed Work Programme for 2017/18 agreed with the addition of one further item.  A report on how the Council’s policy objectives transfer into Adult Services objectives to be brought to meeting on 10 October.

·         Terms of reference were agreed with two proposed amendments:

- Under point 1, add another bullet point – ‘Because of key partnership relationships’

- Under point 2, amend bullet point 1 from ‘receive and request relevant performance reports’ to ‘require and receive relevant performance reports’.

 

Actions:

 

·         Invite Katrina Guntrip to sit on the Panel as a co-optee

·         Amend work programme as discussed

·         Ask Scrutiny Committee to agree two proposed amendments to the Terms of Reference for the Adult Services Panel.

·         Check if further information on mental health data has been provided. Panel requested further information at its meeting on 8 February 2017. Not sure this information has been provided.
