questions of the Officers who responded accordingly. Discussions centred around the following: - ·

vacancies being filled by local people, identifying the skills gap and matching
the provision to enable skills; ·
Impact –
having a better environment and general wealth; ·
Getting
the unemployed / lower paid to the next level / employed and better trained; ·
Focussing
upon harder to reach people; ·
Organisations
purchasing property in the Kingsway area and improving some older buildings in
the area. Resolved that: - 1)

The presentation be circulated to the Committee. |

Presentation - Extended Childcare. Minutes: Allison Williams, Family Resource Manager provided a presentation on Extended Childcare. Details provided included: - · The Childcare Offer for Wales; · Introduction; · Grants in Swansea; · What is the Childcare Offer? · Our approach; · What is available, Capital & ; · Additional Learning Needs; · Figures to date / Breakdown of Applications from Postcode; · Next Steps. The Committee asked questions of the Officer who responded accordingly. Discussions were on the following: - · Set costs and lessons learned from the model used in England; · How the scheme supports working parents; · The huge amount of work completed by staff; · Selection of successful Wards in Swansea; · Reasons why some Wards were unsuccessful. Resolved that: - 1) The contents of the presentation be noted; 2) The presentation be circulated to the Committee. |
