Disclosures of Personal and Prejudicial Interests.

Minutes:

In accordance with the Code of Conduct adopted by the City and County of Swansea, no interests were declared.

Minutes:

The Chief Education Officer presented a draft report on the progress of developing policy on education and skills to meet the challenges of the City Deal.

 

The report outlined the work carried out by the Committee during the past year and detailed the evidence received and research undertaken.

 

The main recommendation arising from the report is the proposal for the appointment of a Strategic Co-ordinator for Education Skills on a two year fixed term contract. A draft job description was circulated for information.

 

The draft report was discussed by the committee and minor amendments were suggested relating to paragraph 3.2 - to include reference to Jobs for the Future and the addition of the Cabinet Member for Economic Development  to the membership and paragraph 3.6 – to add reference to all level of courses and qualification and to include reference to both Universities as partners.

 

The report will be presented to Cabinet on 21 June 2018.

 

Resolved that

 

1)    The two main recommendations contained in the report be endorsed by the Committee.

2)    The report, subject to the amendments referred to above be approved and submitted to Cabinet.
