Welsh in Education Plans (WESP) have been produced on a voluntary basis for the last 2 Financial Years, 2012-13, 2013-14.  Welsh Government have been happy with both versions.

The Schools Standards and Organisation (Wales) Act 2013 made statutory the requirement for a Welsh in Education Plan from April 1^st 2014, with a final publication date of June 1^st 2014.   The Plan will last for three years and be monitored annually.

The duty to produce a WESP lies with each local authority, not with a region.

The WESP contains the authority’s vision and actions for Welsh in education including sufficiency of places in Welsh-medium schools, pre-school provision, out-of-school activities as well as standards in formal education.
