Minutes:

The Committee discussed issues around their ongoing investigation into Young People’s Readiness for Employment.

The Cabinet Member referred to discussions she had been involved in with the Corporate Director of Place relating to this matter, and requested that he or a member of his staff attend a future meeting to outline the issues they had been experiencing recruiting apprentices.

The previous comments from the representative from Swansea College relating to literacy levels were referred to and discussed, and Members asked for further information and clarity to be sought from the college.

The CAC also sought clarification on whether primary school pupils still undertook hearing and eye tests in school, as issues with hearing and vision can impede children’s progress in the classroom.

RESOLVED that with the additions listed above the amended Workplan be noted.
