Co-operative Housing.

Presentation by David Palmer, Co-operative Housing Project Manager, Wales Co-operative Centre.

Minutes:

Mr D Palmer, Co-operative Housing Project Manager, Wales Co-operative Centre, assisted by Mr K Edwards, provided a comprehensive presentation regarding the Wales Co-operative Centre.

 

Details provided included:

 

·       Background;

·       What and Why;

·       7 Co-operative Principles;

·       Welsh Government and Housing Project;

·       Pioneer Projects;

·       Carmarthen Gwalia Group;

·       Project Proposals;

·       Loftus Village Association;

·       Home Farm Village Co-op Housing, Cardiff;

·       So what have we learnt?

·       How can Local Authorities help?

·       Closing Remarks.

 

Members’ asked questions of Mr Palmer and Mr Edwards who responded accordingly.

 

Key issues arising from the presentation included:

 

·       The importance partners agreeing and working towards a single vision;

·       A variety of schemes could be undertaken in one area as there is no ‘one size fits all’;

·       It would be beneficial to identify a political and officer ‘champion’ within the Authority to pioneer the project.

 

 The Chair thanked Mr Palmer and Mr K Edwards for their informative presentation.
