RESOLVED that the Minutes of the Armed Forces Community Covenant Signatories Panel held on 2 July, 2014 be approved and signed as a correct record.

Update on Special Events.

Minutes:

The Chair provided the Panel an overview on the forthcoming Special Events

 

·         Poppy Launch – 24 October 2014;

 

  • Remembrance concert at the Brangwyn Hall – 8 November 2014;

 

  • ‘Silence in the Square’ in Castle Square - 11 November 2014;

 

  •  Homecoming Parade for the Queens Dragoon Guards (The Welsh Cavalry) 12 December 2014.

 

Councillor A C Colburn, Mumbles & South Gower British Legion, provided details of the Legions Remembrance Service – 7 November 2014.

 

 

18.

Update on Armed Forces Community Covenant.

Minutes:

 

S Martin, Voluntary Sector Relationship Coordinator provided an update on the Armed Forces Community Covenant Funding Applications.  He informed the Panel of the details and status of applications received to date.

 

AGREED that the contents of the update be noted.

 

19.

CRUSE Cymru - feedback on AFCC Grant Funded Project.

Minutes:

S Richards, Cruse Morgannwg, provided an overview of the service available to support Military families following bereavement. She added that the Bereavement in the Military Family project aims to further develop and raise awareness of bereavement services available for the Military Family.

She stated that Cruse could provide practical information, dealing with the media and details of support the bereaved could expect from the Armed Forces and others following a death in Service.

 

 

 

 

20.

Ripple Pond Wales.

Minutes:

Apologies for absence were received from Ripple Pond Wales.

21.

Any Other Business.

Minutes:

A discussion took place in respect of ‘transition’ on how ex service personnel cope when leaving the Forces.

 

The Panel stressed the importance of signposting organisations within the Covenant to ex service personnel.

 

Captain C M Evans stated that the Welsh Transport Regiment have a promotional exhibition display every Tuesday in the City Centre.

He welcomed all Members of the Covenant to forward him their organisational information leaflets which he would display at the exhibition.
