Apologies for absence were received from Councillors W J F Davies, C Thomas and L J Tyler-Lloyd.

In accordance with the Code of Conduct adopted by the City and County of Swansea, the following interests were declared:

Councillor D G Sullivan – Personal & Prejudicial – Minute No – 13 (1) – LA Governor Applications – The applicant is my first cousin’s son. Councillor Sullivan left the meeting prior to discussion thereof.

Councillor D G Sullivan – Personal – Minute No 14 – LA Governor Applications held on File – as previously declared – applicant is known to me.

Councillor T M White – Personal & Prejudicial – Minute No - 13 – LA Governor Applications – Known to the applicant as a friend and close neighbour. Councillor White left the meeting prior to discussion thereof.

To approve as a correct record the Minutes of the LA Governor Panel Meeting held on 12 June 2014.

RESOLVED that the Minutes of the LA Governor Panel Meeting held on 12 June 2014 be approved as a correct record.

The School and Governor Unit Manager provided a for information report on the current list of LA Governor Vacancies.

            The LA Governor Panel was requested to exclude the public from the meeting during consideration of the items of business identified in the recommendation to the report on the grounds that they involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as set out in the Exclusion Paragraphs of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972, as amended by the Local Government (Access to Information) (Variation) (Wales) Order 2007, relevant to the items of business as set out in the report.

            The LA Governor Panel considered the public interest test in deciding whether to exclude the public from the meeting for the items of business where the public interest test is relevant as set out in the report.

            It was RESOLVED that the public be excluded for consideration of the following items.

            The School and Governor Unit Manager reported on the applications for LA Governor vacancies that required decision. 

            Additional information was circulated to the Panel in respect of the vacancy at Pennard Primary School.

AGREED that:

a)    Item 2, Pennard Primary School, be deferred in order to seek further information;

b)    That the following nominations be recommended to Cabinet for approval;

1.    Portmead Primary School - Mr Andrew Morris

2.    Pentrehafod Comprehensive School - Mr David Peter Blann.
